How old are the children at The Holden School ?
We support up to 48 boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 16.
How long is the school term?
We follow the regular 38-week school calendar.
What special needs do children at The Holden School have?
The school supports children who have a wide range of social, emotional and mental health issues. Many children also have complex additional needs including attachment issues and autism spectrum disorders.
How far do children travel to attend?
The school is based in the town of Leigh, seven miles southeast of Wigan. Our catchment area covers local authorities that are within a 45-minute drive from the school including Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Warrington and Wigan.
What extra support is provided?
The work of our highly-skilled classroom teachers is supplemented by a wider team including a family liaison worker, child protection officer and a number of therapists and counsellors who come into school to work with children on an individual basis.
What facilities are available onsite?
The Holden School is a purpose-built school that has been newly refurbished with bright, modern, spacious classrooms. The school has a large hall, kitchen on-site as well as an outdoor play area complete with play equipment.
