Home News & Events “Do Disability Differently”: A New Creative Project for Our Young People πβ¨
We are thrilled to share an exciting opportunity for our students and their families to get involved in a brand-new creative project: βDo Disability Differentlyβ.
Launched by local author Alex Winstanley and the team at Happy Smiles, in partnership with Maddison House Press, this project is all about putting disabled and neurodivergent children and young people in the driving seat.
The goal is to co-create a brand-new book rooted in real-life experiences. Unlike many books, this one is being written by children and young people, aimed at educating adults about disability and neurodiversity from their unique perspective.

Participation is completely free, and there are several upcoming engagement events where families can find out more and take part:
At The Holden School, we are passionate about neurodivergent representation. This project allows our young people to be seen, heard, and celebrated as authors of their own stories. Together, we can help ensure that the lived experiences of our children help shape a more inclusive future for everyone. π
