Important Update: Benedict’s Law & Supporting Pupils with Medical Conditions

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are writing to share an important update regarding how schools support pupils with medical conditions and allergies.

Following the recent passing of Benedict’s Law, which will be implemented starting in September 2026, the Department for Education is seeking views from parents, young people, and providers. This is an opportunity for you to help shape the updated statutory guidance that ensures all children remain safe and supported while at school.

The government consultation is now open, and we encourage our school community to participate. Your feedback ensures that the lived experiences of families dealing with allergies and medical conditions are heard.
